Dutch Oven Potatoes

My husbands does all of the cooking when we go camping.
(Okay, he does his fair share at home too!)
Over the years he has mixed, added, stirred, and perfected some of the best

Dutch Oven Meals
you’ll ever eat.

Here he is cooking his yummy Green Chili Pork Chops and
his contest winning Potatoes, but I can only share one at a time so

today I’m sharing, with his help...

Dutch Oven Potato Recipe

I use a pre starter for the coals.
(pictured above)
Use a #12 dutch oven.
I put six coals underneath and eight to ten on top.
This will give you about 350* degree oven.

Ingredients

2.5 lbs. Potatoes
1 lb. bacon
1 large onion
1 medium sized ham steak
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 lb. bag fiesta blend grated cheese

Preparation:

Peel and thinly slice potatoes. Cut up bacon into pieces,
slice onion and cut ham into small squares.

Place bacon in bottom of dutch oven, add onions,
half the potatoes and salt and pepper.
Add ham and the rest of potatoes, salt and pepper.
Last add soup then cover and cook for 2 hours.

Add the cheese and lightly stir all together, cover and
let stand for a few minutes. Serve and Enjoy!

  8. We borrowed a dutch oven for our last camping vacation and there was a learning curve. We will probably borrow it again next year, unless I can find a used one at a garage sale. Do you have more recipes?
