Tuesday Trivia–IDAHO and Link Party

Idaho has special meaning
because my beautiful daughter and her family live there!
So you might catch a glimpse of them in a picture or two Winking smile

Welcome to ID

Idaho became our 43rd state on July 3, 1890.

1. It’s the 13th largest state in the United States.
Boise is the state capitol and the largest city.
The Statehouse in Boise is geothermally heated from
underground hot springs.

2. Shoshone Falls, The Niagara of the West,
spills over a 212 ft. drop near Twin Falls.

3. It’s nickname is the “Gem State”, because nearly every known type of
gemstone has been found there. In addition,
Idaho is one of the only two places in the world where the
star garnet can be found, the other being India.

(these are some of my gems)

One of the largest diamonds ever found in the United States,
nearly 20 carats, was discovered near McCall.

4. Idaho is also called the “Potato State” as it produces
more potatoes than any other state.

5. Philo Farnsworth at Rigby built the first Television.

6. Sun Valley
is recognized as the home of America’s 1st Ski Resort.

7.Hells Canyon at 7,900 ft. deep is the deepest river gorge
in North America, it’s deeper than the Grand Canyon.

Hell's Canyon, ID/OR

8. St. Anthony Sand Dunes
is one of my husbands favorite places to play.
The dunes consist of 10,000 acres or 15 miles of sand dunes,
rising up to 600 ft. high in places.

It’s north of Rexburg and GREAT ATV riding.

9. Grangeville is located in north central Idaho.
The community is considered the gateway to five wilderness areas
and four national forests totaling 5 1/2 million acres.
The total is second only to Alaska in designated wilderness area.

 10. Sacagawea was born in 1788, into a Shoshone Tribe,
in Lemhi County, near present day Salmon, Idaho.

Sacagawea Monument

I have absolutely LOVED learning about Sacagawea this week
and a lot about Idaho I didn't know. I have so many places on my bucket list,
we are going to be traveling a long time.

See you Thursday with a little more and some of my favorite link ups.

  7. I stopped by to say hi and let you know that I am sitting this week out because I don't have any potato recipes or Idaho pictures. I know I have some photos of us rafting down the Snake River when I was a kid, but I cannot access those photos right now. I'll probably sit out next week too since I've never been to Oregon!
